Back for another year in Oviedo

These shoes weren't made for walking....

Day one and I walked. Like miles. Holly and I went on a little jaunt that ended up taking us halfway around Oviedo and we got lost, luckily we found a bus that took us back to the flat!

We started off by walking through Parque de San Francisco to where my school is.

Its nice isn't it?

These are the photos I took on our walk.

Yes that is a statue of some naked people.
I <3 Spain.

The guy in the Cafe that I'm using for internet just walked past and said "Coca Light, si?" I've been here once and I'm known!! It took me a year in the Starbucks in Bruntsfield to get that!! I could be convinced to drink Coca Light with that kind of treatment!!

One thing that I don't have enough pictures of is the Cathedral, the ones I have are kind of rubbish so I'm going to wait to take some more. They do have Mass four times on a Sunday including one at 1 o'clock though - lie in on a Sunday? Yes please.

So I went shopping today, at the end of the LONGEST WALK EVER! Did I mention that I walked really far...
I thought I should start with the essentials...

How could I live without these!?

Finally a kind of sign that I took to mean that this year is going to be awesome - I found this outside my flat today

The Camino de Santiago goes right past my flat, what more needs to be said....?

Finally!

Arrived in Oviedo about three hours ago. The flights were basically painless, except for a bag which narrowly missed my head whilst falling out of the over-head lockers - they mean it when they say that things might move during the flight!! Apart from that the journey was fine, apart from having to drink the most disgusting coffee of my life at Pret a Manger in Stansted. The two bottles of Beefeater Gin that have made it through security with me were a definite plus!
I'm not entirely sure what I'm running on.... excitement and Diet Coke play a major part though, although I'm obviously now having to drink Coca Light, which let me tell you, IS NOT THE SAME!
Not that I'm having trouble accepting that or anything....
So, no photos today, I haven't taken any, but hopefully I'll be off exploring tomorrow with lots to show for it! Now all I have to do is remember what key lets me back into the flat....

Here we go.....!

Finally! It's almost time to leave for Oviedo. After one of the busiest Sundays of my life! Seeing about 10 different people throughout the course of tomorrow to say goodbye - it's going to be stressful, but good. Not to mention the Sweeney Clan has a Skype date with our Dubai counterparts and Mr Ryan Wells is performing at the Usher Hall tomorrow night - very nice farewell from the families.

Today I went for lunch with the family. Someone from Campbells Prime Meat had mentioned that my Dad was coming for lunch and so the staff organised a little treat for us! On arrival we were taken to the Kitchen to watch the chefs with a glass of champagne (which was offered to my sister and not to me.... unimpressed, she's 16!) And just because the food was so pretty I'm going to put up the pictures!

That green blob is Wasabi Ice-Cream. I'll leave you to mull over how epic that is.

Posh fish and chips!

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe how good that food was.

So good news is that when I arrive in Oviedo on Monday I will have somewhere to live! The lovely Holly found somewhere for us to live and is taking me to Ikea to buy things once I arrive!!

Packing wise I thought I better make sure I had the essentials....

Sadness today though as I had to say goodbye to everyone at Mayfield Road who took me out last night! I was going to put some pictures up from our drinking game but I don't think I'd have any friends left if I did!!

Next time I write I'll be in SPAAAAAIN!

One week and counting....

Thought I should maybe begin with the lead-up to leaving. So I fly to Oviedo a week tomorrow and so far have nothing packed. That's going to be interesting....

This photo is from last night which was my, Mari-Jane and Sarah's last night out in Falkirk. Nothing like chips and cheese from King's to send you off!

Before I leave I still need to; sort out my bank account, work out how many pairs of shoes I can fit into my bag, find somewhere to live in Oviedo and start thinking of what I'm going to teach the poor Spanish children that have to learn English from me! It's going to be a long week....
